If you are a gardener and looking for a way to use up your abundance of tomatoes, then try your hand at making homemade catsup.
Homemade Catsup Recipe
Here is what you will need:
1 gallon tomatoes, peeled and cut
1 cup vinegar
2 lbs. granulated sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons ground cloves
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 small cans of tomato paste
Using a large kettle (stock pot) combine all of the above ingredients. Cook ingredients over medium to high heat until it is 50% of its original bulk. (in other words, let it cook down in size). Once its done cooking, ladle it into hot sterilized jars and then cold pack it for 15 minutes in a water bath canner. Remove the hot jars from the canner to let cool. After 2 hours, make sure that all of your jars sealed properly.
